LINK TO LYRIC - Mariposa Traicionera (Maná)
http://www.elyrics.net/read/m/mana-lyrics/mariposa-traicionera-lyrics.html
I selected this song because almost everyone likes Maná and the have songs with a lot of sense. In this lyric the singer make the song to rhyme when he is singing or at least it sounds like that but really the song has only a few stanzas that rhyme. One example of alliteration in the song is when he says “soy ratón de tu ratonera”. An example of assonance in the song is when the singer says “y te posas vas de boca en boca”. In the case of the alliteration that I mentioned above, it gives the song a lot of sense because it is like saying that he is vulnerable or fragile to anything she wants to do with him. Saying “soy ratón de tu ratonera” is like saying “I am at you feet; you could use me whenever you want and I can’t escape from it”. The song is a little sad and the rhythm which Maná use to sing it demonstrates this sadness. You have to sing it in a slow rhythm because if you don’t the stanzas loose the sence.

Dreaming too much
It is no rare sometimes to see in the T.V., news about marriages or sentimental relationships in which people make stupid things such as a man killing his wife or girlfriend, or vice versa. Sometimes I start to think about this people and ask myself why people do this to persons that supposedly they love. I selected the stories “Happy Endings” and “A very short story” because both show a theory that I think is one of the reasons for people to make this crazy things. And my theory is that people are too dreamy and this make them to begin or to stay involved in the wrong relationship. My two principal arguments to prove this are at first that they have irrational ideas on how to improve or formalize a relationship and the other is that they are too optimist with things almost impossible. I have a secondary argument and it is that they got involved in the physical attraction.
I said they have very irrational ideas on how to improve their relationship because if we see the first story that I mentioned (Happy Endings) it is very stupid that a woman thinks that if she acts like she likes sex her pair will love her more and will marry her. In the story, Mary acted like she was dying for sex every time John wanted to f **k she although when she doesn’t like it but she thought that he would come to depend on her with this. It is irrational, John is having what he want without being married, why he would get into a deeper compromise to obtain something he already has? In the case of the other story (A very short story) one of the moment when we see something very irrational to improve and make a more stable relationship is when they agree that the man would go home to get a job after the armistice. I think that it is irrational because they agreed that he would not meet anybody and would not drink. I don’t think that if he doesn’t meet anybody it will guarantee a strong relationship when they meet again. Combining the two stories we can obtain one story. Two stupid making stupid things to be happy in a relationship where there is no real love.
My other argument is the optimism of this people and how it gets them to believe in relationships that are practically impossible. I don’t know if the author of “Happy Endings” forgot to say that Mary was a drug addict but I think that this girl was smoking marijuana since she was in fifth grade. In which head fits that a guy will fall in love with a woman that have to take off herself the cloths when is going to have sex because her “man” not even wants to do it? Mary was involved in an ironic optimism that did drive her to the suicide thinking that John would rescue her and will marry with her. Yeah right, next time get pregnant from him and if you keep optimist you will have no one, no two, you will have six babies in the first shoot, an one million house and two Hummers. Looking at “A very short story” I can see this optimism with Luz and the man. He was going back home “alone”, Luz was going to Pordenone to open a hospital in which later there would be a battalion. Everyone knows the final, he had sex with other girl, and Luz had sex with the major. Now I make the question, it is not too optimism t stay away from a person that you met having sex in a hospital and wait for that person to not do the same (have an adventure) while is away? In both stories the optimism is presented in two different ways but it has one thing in common, it got them involved in the wrong relationship.
My argument about the physical attraction is very simple. In “Happy Endings” it says that Mary does not like sex but this is very hard to believe. The thing that I’m pretty sure is that this was Mary’s first man and this might develop in her a dependence on John. In “A very short story” they wanted to get married but I think that this was because they had a good sex while they were in the hospital. They were having a relationship in an uncommon place so this made it more interesting. What I see in the two stories is that they got driven by the instinct of pleasure and it causes them to think it was love, eventually looking for marriage. I had touched three points; irrational ideas, too optimism, and physical attraction. I will combine the two stories and the three arguments to restate my point of view. People do irrational plans and things, thinking in things that are impossible or without sense, being drive by the sexual pleasure and sexual adventure in a way that converts them into dreaming people that get involved in the wrong relationship.

Essay #1 DRAFT
Iago made a lot of bad things, he created conflicts, provocated fights, kills but not all was induced by his jelousy. I think Iago got revenge because he was looking for recognition and it was not the envy. This is my opinion because first of all Othello gave importance to Iago only when he wanted to get revenge. Second, if Iago were jealousy he would kill Cassio since the beginning. And third but not less important is that he was married with a “servant” and this made him feel tied to that social class.
Since the beginning of the movie Othello was giving order to Iago but the only moment that Othello started to give importance and hear Iago’s opinion was when Othello started to get “inseguro” about his wife faithfull. Othello “ supuestamente” valuates Iago because Iago had a big experience as a militar working for him but Iago did not received the recognition that this experience and knowledge “deserve” and instead of designating Iago as the “lieutenant” Othello designated Cassio. Iago wanted to feel that Othello needed him because he didn’t felt that he was an important or indispensable person in the group or society he was dealing. One of the Iago’s aspirations was to be “lieutenant” and this “evidencia” that he was a person that does not conforms with being at the bottom, that wants to be at a high or top position so the people give them recognition and respect them. Another thing that proves the Iago’s lag of recognition is that he made friendship with everybody, and people that want to be friend of everybody have a recognition or attention deficit. Because one thing is that you are very friendly and everybody wants to be your friend but it is different if you are doing what people want you to do (good or bad) only to gain them as friends.
When people is jealousy and angry because another person receives what they “merecen”, people “se desquitan” with that person but in this case something different occurred. Iago’s “coraje” was more with Othello than with Cassio. And this was because Othello, knowing the Iago’s experience he preferred to select Cassio. Iago did know that people with education and from high class family get this position but he “no podía” deal with it. Iago did not have to much jealous for Cassio because as I say above he knows how this things works related to society class and his really jelous was with Othello. Othello was a simple “more” and having that recognition being a person that came from the bottom was the thing that Iago was looking for. Iago was not specifically interested in the position “sino que” in the recognition and that was something that Cassio “no podía hacer” for Iago because he was not in the top.
My other reason to prove that Iago was looking for the recognition that he thinks he “merecía” is his wife. Not only Iago was from the low social class “sino que” “además” he was married with a “servant”. Think for a moment, a man from a low class society or family, it is very difficult that somebody designate him an important position so think who is gonna designate a man from a poor family and married with a “servant”. This “puso” a Iago in a very hard situation because he was on a deeper social level so it was more difficult to have the recognition he was looking for. Iago did not reflected any sign of love to Emilia in any moment so this prove that maybe Iago was “avergonzado” of Emilia. “Vergüenza” that was motivated by the reality that no body would consider a pair of servants as important persons.

Comment on Iago Character
I will comment on the character Iago, or Hugo in the case of the movie that we saw based in the Shakespeare’s play “Othello”. I think that he acts in that manner because he has never been recognized. This is something that we see almost everyday, a person works like an “animal” to make a difference or to achieve some goal but nobody notice it. Maybe Iago was working a lot to be the Othello’s lieutenant but he got angry when Othello gave this opportunity to Cassio. Based on the movie, Hugo seems to be acting in this manner because he is jealousy. I think that the reason of Hugo for being jealousy is because everybody acclaims Odin and he represents nothing in the team. Hugo used steroids but he didn’t reach the Odin’s performance, it is obvious that this grew up his envy.
Personally, I have friends with envy problems and they envy each other for stupid things. When they were kids, they were the best friends but now one envy the other one because the other one has a luxury car and that one with the luxury car envies the first one because the first one has the prettiest girlfriends, it’s absurd. People get what they deserve, if you work a F and you got an A, you’re lucky. But if like in the movie you are not the best, don’t wait to receive an award.

My English (Past, Present, Future)
My interest in the English language started when I was in 4th grade. Two new students came from U.S. I was their friend. The first words I asked them to teach me on how to say it in English were a lot of vulgar language. Then, when I was in 6th grade I participated in a lot of activities in the English week so I get motivated to learn English because I understood how important it was. When I came to the university the first year, my English was at a basic level but with the five years of reading textbooks in English and answering the exams in this language I think that my English is now on an intermediate level. I have never lived out of P.R. and five years ago I did not like to watch TV in English so I think that my English is not too bad for the little experience I have with the language.
I am using the English for everything I do in my life. I need it to read and study for the classes, to send and read emails, interviews with the companies’ human resources recruiters and a lot of things that are essential to me. Actually I have an eleven months baby and I am telling her some words in English to familiarize her with the English language. I would like that my parents were more worried about me to learn English since I was a kid because it would help me a lot to dominate it. It is easier to me now to call outside P.R. and deal with people such as the customer service department of a credit card.
My future plans are to work in my professional field and take all the examinations required to become a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). It is very important to me to dominate the English the most possible because all of these exams are completely in English, very complex vocabulary and I have to make them in a short period of time. I was in an interview and the most important requirement the company had was to be fully bilingual so it is a necessity for me to develop a little more my English, specifically the spoken. By the way I had to write a little essay in English in that interview.
