My interest in the English language started when I was in 4th grade. Two new students came from U.S. I was their friend. The first words I asked them to teach me on how to say it in English were a lot of vulgar language. Then, when I was in 6th grade I participated in a lot of activities in the English week so I get motivated to learn English because I understood how important it was. When I came to the university the first year, my English was at a basic level but with the five years of reading textbooks in English and answering the exams in this language I think that my English is now on an intermediate level. I have never lived out of P.R. and five years ago I did not like to watch TV in English so I think that my English is not too bad for the little experience I have with the language.
I am using the English for everything I do in my life. I need it to read and study for the classes, to send and read emails, interviews with the companies’ human resources recruiters and a lot of things that are essential to me. Actually I have an eleven months baby and I am telling her some words in English to familiarize her with the English language. I would like that my parents were more worried about me to learn English since I was a kid because it would help me a lot to dominate it. It is easier to me now to call outside P.R. and deal with people such as the customer service department of a credit card.
My future plans are to work in my professional field and take all the examinations required to become a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst). It is very important to me to dominate the English the most possible because all of these exams are completely in English, very complex vocabulary and I have to make them in a short period of time. I was in an interview and the most important requirement the company had was to be fully bilingual so it is a necessity for me to develop a little more my English, specifically the spoken. By the way I had to write a little essay in English in that interview.
